Detailed Course Syllabus
Standardized Fetal Biometry (BPD, HC, AC, FL)
Anatomical landmarks for each plane and mathematical growth curves.
Systematic 20-Point Anatomical Survey
Cranium, face/lips, spine, thorax, diaphragm, kidneys, bladder, stomach, extremities.
Placenta, Cord & Amniotic Fluid Dynamics
3-vessel cord confirmation, marginal insertion, vasa previa screening, and oligohydramnios/polyhydramnios criteria.
Third-Trimester Fetal Growth & Well-Being
Estimated fetal weight (EFW) percentiles and interval growth velocity.
Learning Objectives
- Execute standardized caliper placement for BPD, HC, AC, and FL following Hadlock criteria.
- Conduct a systematic 20-point fetal structural survey including intracranial, facial, cardiac, abdominal, spinal, and skeletal planes.
- Evaluate placental localization, clear space, retroplacental complex, and assess for placenta previa or accreta spectrum.
- Quantify amniotic fluid using Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) and Single Deepest Vertical Pocket (SDVP).
Clinical Relevance
Forms the bedrock of routine obstetric ultrasound globally. Standardized biometry and structural scanning detect life-threatening anomalies and timely identify fetal growth restriction.
